David Hogberg says the well-publicized case of Edith Isabel Rodriguez, dying in the ER waiting room, may be a preview of government-run health care.

Hello to all,
I currently work as an “International Patient Advocate” for person afflicted with “Adhesion Related Disorder (ARD)” and though this disorder has not been confirmed as a condition that Edith Isabel Rodriguez had, in my opinion it very well could be. It is my intentions to secure Mrs. Rodriguez’s autopsy report which will offer to me a more comprehensive look into her prior medical/surgical history, which, if there is anything of a surgical nature existing in that history, will give credence to the probability that “post surgical peritoneal adhesions” were in fact a cause of her pain and multiple ER visits for pain. I can say with certainty that being on analgesics it is no wonder Edith had a bowel obstruction from constipation, which is a side affect of such a medication, and for a person who has a bowel compromised from adhesions, obstruction is a medical emergency which can trigger the results typical of what Edith Isabel Rodriguez experienced -death surrounded by ignorance and hostility within the medical arena. Tammy Wynette died under similar circumstances, and her death was directly related to ARD. Others have as well, unfortunately. I invite, and encourage you to please visit this web site: http://www.adhesionrelateddisorder.com for more information on ARD.
I am hoping that anyone reading my post will take this unfortunate situation and loss of a young mother a step further by acclimating yourselves to a most hideous medical condition that rivals appendectomies, heart bypass surgery and hip replacements in our country, and throughout the world
You probably don’t want to be basing your opposition to another system on just one anecdote, unless your own is horror story free.
I thought tammy wynette died of a pulmonary embolus?
Oh, that boogey man, “socialized medicine!” I’m so scared! Run for your lives people! It’s like hearing “fight the terrorists over there so they don’t come here.” Stop with the scare tactics and start discussing facts.
We have other socialized agencies like Fire & Police Departments. When they show up to your home, do they check how much coverage you have before they give you services? “You only get 5″ of water, your neighbor gets 10,” because your neighbor has a better insurance plan? Why don’t we privitize them too? I suppose you’ll be more than happy to watch your neighbor’s house burn down then if they don’t have enough coverage?
Hmmm….
The local police and fire departments charge a fine if you call for no reason, or call with a seemingly good (which turns out to be bad) reason to often, or if you have too many false alarms. The fines go up with multiple offenses. It’s also illegal to intentionally create a false alarm, or call 911 and lie.
Will that apply to socialized medicine as well? Will they put the drug seeker in jail for claming they are allergic to toradol? Will the charge fines when someone calls 911 to be transported to the ER by ambulance so they don;t have to wait to be treated for their hangnail?
Let’s at least compare apples to apples…
The local police have never in their existence charged for ANY calls. Where in the world did you come to that notion from? Atleast give correct information if you want to compare something.
If your home burglar alarm has too many false alarms, the local police and/or township assess fines.
In my community, if you trigger a false alarm, my fire department is kind enough to send a warning letter first.
Fire & police are vital but health isn’t?
Right, then they charge you the next time. Will socialized medicine defray costs by billing those that cry wolf too often?
Is fire and police less vital because they charge you if you “abuse” the system? Why shouldn;t the same rules apply to other socialized services with limited budgets?

No, this woman came here only to gain attention, as Dr. Kevin gets high Internet hits and media attention. She lives to terrorize doctors and people who are ill and suffering by continually slandering them on her internet blog site. She is a nobody who wants to be somebody, so she builds herself up by tearing others to shreds. She has caused and continues to cause extreme emotional grief to countless innocent people. Her name is Beverly Doucette and she harasses ONLY the most reputable and outstanding people/surgeons/doctors in order to promote her own agenda. Dr. Kevin, be warned…your site is being targeted for a reason, and it has nothing to do with “Edith.”
