Part of the more general phenomenon of defining ones identity by the brands of the products that one consumes. Not a new thing but increasing over time. We tend to no longer thing that we have souls that define who we are but are merely what we buy and what we do or even just the image that we project. Little wonder that what is left of psychotherapy is usually superficial symptom focused habit training provided by those with training just as shallow rather than a probing of any personal depth.
