Stop expecting a medical buffet:
In no way is any socialized, quasi-socialized, or we-swear-it-aint-socialized scheme going to do a thing to lower the cost of medical care unless fundamental changes are made in the way we conduct health care business. As these fundamental changes mostly involve the rationing of care for people who expect limitless access, the voting public is never going to buy it unless they are tricked into it with promises of a shining all-you-can-eat medical buffet on a hill. This is a promise that cannot possibly be kept except by continuing to increase health care spending. After all, what politician has the guts to tell the people that they can’t have it all?

Living in a country that has socialized medicine, I can answer that: No politician known to man has the courage to say “no” to a population with the behavior of a thoroughly spoilt three-year old.
Proving once again the wisdom of Northcote Parkinson’s reservations about democracy.
Ron Paul’s willing to say it. His honesty is a big part of the reason he’s totally unelectable. He needs to take lessons in deception and doublespeak from Hillary. But then he wouldn’t be Ron Paul anymore, he’d just be another despicable politician.
