A convicted killer wants a sex change

June 28, 2007

Some argue it’s a medical necessity. Really?

The question at the center of the case: Should a murderer serving life in prison get a sex-change operation at taxpayer expense?

The case of Michelle — formerly Robert — Kosilek is being closely watched across the country by advocates for other inmates who want to undergo a sex change. Transgender inmates in other states have sued prison officials, and not one has succeeded in persuading a judge to order a sex-change operation.

None of these people need a sex change operation. This is quackery which in some future age physicians will laugh at or hear of with embarrassment that such obvious BS would become accepted medical practice.

These are people with severe personality disorders. Surgery does not cure personality disorder. What you end up with is a rich surgeon and a very ugly “woman” who is still a complete nutjob.

The psychiatrist’s groups will never name the spade because a vocal minority are freaks themselves, and the rest afraid fo the criticism.

ANON:

It’s 2007, Bud, not 1910! Do you still wear a corset to bed at night?

Anon 1:17:

Your argument for sex-change operations is about as good as it gets–a supercilious appeal to the desire to be “hip”.

The disease here is not that they have a penis and whacking it off is not the treatment. The disorder is of the mind.

Wearing a corset to bed doesn’t make sense so I wouldn’t do it–even if everyone else was and people tried to tell me that I was old-fashioned for failing to do so. Do we do craniotomies on people who have the delusion that they have bugs planted in their brains? Do we liposuction anorexics who think they are too fat? Either would be quackery and so is this.

I wasn’t around to examine transexuals in 1910. I have performed mental status exams on some over the last 20 years however both pre-op and post-op. All I have seen is severely disturbed unhappy people become hormonally and surgically mutilated severely disturbed unhappy people. It is a ludicrous farce.
