I take vitamin D and Calcium because I am at a very high risk of osteoporosis because of my POF. Even with HRT, I still have osteopenia which got a little worse during last few years, and I am only in my 40s.

My mother on the other hand takes AREDS formula and Lutein for macular degeneration on her doctor's recommendation. I am a bit concerned because of all the studies that show harm of the high doses of some of these vitamins (at least nobody in my family has evern smoked), but there is some evidence of benefit for my mother's type of macular degeneration and it is from an RCT. My mom feels that her eyesight is more important to her than any other risks at this point, but she'll stop taking them if some new information becomes available.

I’ve never taken any vitamins except for vitamin D and Calcium because I do eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Now it's just a multi-vitamin and a calcium pill (because we barely get even 10% of the daily requirement of calcium around here).

We’ve followed the same course, as myths were debunked.
