JAMA did an excellent “Clinical Crossroads” last week about AICD’s and cost effectiveness. It sounds like everybody would benefit from these litle miracle workers… that is, if you dont mind eating dinner, and all the sudden “JOLT”!

All that prayer and piety, and he gets snuffed just like everyone else. Angels, trumpets, shafts of light giving his body a luminous glow while silver stalions draw a chariot to carry him home? Nope, just another huckster preacher who stayed one step ahead of the law.

A good death at a good time–would he have benefited to survive his heart disease only to die a lingering decline with dementia?

Nobody gets out alive, and he remained functional and able to direct his own fate (controling the degree to which he deals with trolls like the above) to the end. What is there to improve on?
