How about screening these ER patients for TB, Syphilis, Hepatitis C, cervical dysplasia, and HPV. The ER is not a place for screening. The ER is a place for evaluation and management of urgent and emergent medical problems.

Word. Not to mention that patients end up being charged for it. If I am at low risk (like in not sexually active for past 10 years, and never had blood trasfusions) why should I pay for this?

Worse yet, why should I pay for it, and all the drama and headache sorting out a false positive when I go in to get my arm sutured after a Saturday afternoon workshop accident. I don’t think so.
