I was in the pharmaceitical industry for 14 years and now I can look back as an outsider. When I was a rep, I enjoyed many of the visits I had with lots of the doctors I called on whether they used my company's products or not. It was pretty mutual for most of them too. I was not a pushy rep and I usually shared information on published clinical studies they may have missed. Some of the time during calls were used as social talk about things each doctor and I had in common. I was like a quick coffee break for some of these doctors. But then again, I did see some pushy reps out there too. So it really depends on the rep.
