I don’t see any DTC drug ads on this page… what am I missing? How do the ads on this page relate to anything in the post? If you’re going to make an accusation of hypocrisy, please make sense.

Talk about ad’s, your blog is full of them and getting more so all the time. They just recently started showing up on the comment pages. I guess for Kevin it is “don’t do I do, do as I say.”

What a relief. I’m certain Ted Kennedy knows what’s good for me better than I (after 21 years with the same disease) and my board-certified specialists offering me cutting edge options at a highly respected teaching hospital do. God forbid we should sit down and discuss something I saw in an ad. I’m so grateful the government is going to save me from the dangers of too much information. Perhaps next he would like to regulate what I’m allowed to know about all medical products and procedures!

You run commercial ads on this blog. One could argue that your posts therefore constitute “commercial” speech and are therefore subject to government regulation. Is this really what you want? I’ll bet that it’s what Teddy Kennedy and his friends want.

Bad stuff. I’m often on your side on legal issues, but to me this is a clear violation of free speech rights. The distinction between commercial and political speech that the SCOTUS created to justify violations of the first amendment is transparent and not in the constitution anywhere. If consumers don’t want these ads, they can pressure the companies financially to change the way things are, but government has no place regulating this sort of thing.
