What insurers need to do is offer coverage for such elective surgeries on an a la carte basis and specifically exclude them for their general insured population. This will bring down the general population’s insurance premiums.
The part about PR was a throwaway. The main point of that article was that insurers lost the debate because their evidence and expert opinion was weak. You have the optics and the facts against you and you’re gonna lose. No wonder you’re feeling so besieged recently.
