Maybe I should get a job as a drug rep. I’m a surgical subspecialist (ENT), and believe it or not, I expect to bring home a whopping $70K this year. So much for being a rich doctor.
BTW I’ve been in private practice for nine years. How much training does the average drug rep have?
9:14,
I don’t believe you.
I actually don’t care if you believe me. I read all sorts of things about what the average otolaryngologist makes in most parts of the country, but in my neck of the heavily managed woods, if you try to do a good job and not move patients in and out of your office like a mill, that’s pretty much what you can expect to earn.
My main reward, however, is not cash–its the smile on the kiddo’s face when he comes back to me being able to breathe properly. I suppose in that regard, I am indeed a rich doctor.
You must be a rich doctor. I would have to do something else to pay down my loans, mortgage, and children’s expenses. Practicing medicine as a hobby or strictly charitable endeavor is out of the question for most of us.
