As in all things, as long as the doctor and patient discuss how e-mail is to be used before introducing the option, it shouldn’t be a problem. I have a little difficulty believing that most providers will take the time to do that, but instead will start complaining and pondering terminating the relationship the minute the patient crosses some never-disclosed line.
