Hilarious – and oh so true. More on PBL (problem based learning).

yeah, so many things wrong with that, which makes it HILARIOUS!
As a medical student, I know that I hate PBL. The funniest point on there was “we are in the cardiology section so it might be something to do with the heart.” Couldn’t be more true.
Wow, am I glad we did not have PBL when I went to school. The most time efficient way to learn the stuff was to bear down and memorize the stuff in a quiet place then go play some basketball or surf. I would not have been able to withstand sitting around a table with 80% of my classmates.
Interesting vid and so true. I’m glad we don’t have PBL in my med school basic science. We did have it for my undergrad years and half the group slept during the Friday afternoon meetings!
“But I don’t need to study, I’m asian”
Ha! If only.
Are all medical students such physically attractive people?
A Hollywood casting agency must have chosen the peeps for that vid!
“Are all medical students such physically attractive people?”
Many are until they reach residency and then pack on pounds, cynicism, depression, sleep deprivation
Love it! My preclinical school is not PBL but our clinical is…hoping that doesnt cause too many problems. Please keep us updated if you find an Episode 2!
I’m definitely a med student who still wants to be an astronaut. They’ll need doctors on Mars, right?
oh, PBL …
Our school has such treats as Monday Ground Rules, some tutors who tell us “no, you are doing it wrong”(interspersed between some great mentors), and dodgy paper copies of imaging studies ["Oooh, that small blurry thing there must be the lesion - no wait, that's just a printing mistake. It must be this blurr here... but that looks like the elbow, not an aorta!"], etc.
I think by 2nd year we all become a bit jaded by the process and do what we can to get by. We have all figured out that the PBL week objectives are hardly ever on the exam. I hope.
But it’s not all bad. We soften the blow of boring case wrap-ups on Fridays with a tasty breakfast (we take turns bringing in some artery clogging treats or yummy fruits), and have had the pleasure of tutors that legitimately earn nick names like “Borat.”
Just HILARIOUS!
definitely a funny video with some truth to it..but i’m surprised there weren’t any tutors to “guide” the discussion…that usually limits debauchery.
give PBL a chance.. and learn how to tolerate your colleagues early. once we’re out there, nobody is gonna hand us a set of notes with all the relevant info.. learning how to develop objectives and finding answers to them will take up most of our time in actual practice..just my 2 cents.
