Frankly this is chicken-feed considering what is involved. There is an old joke about the divorce rate among cardiac surgery fellows being greater than 100% as they typically go through more than one marriage during their training. And can you imagine the ongoing interest on medical school loans, and opportunity cost relative to other careers. I would HAVE to anticipate compensation of AT LEAST $1.5 million/year to remotely consider such a career. This may be difficult for some to understand, but this is the truth.
