Vaccines "un-Islamic"?
Orac looks at the recent stance from the head of the Islamic Medical Association:A MUSLIM doctors' leader has provoked an outcry by urging British Muslims not to vaccinate their children against diseases such as measles, mumps and rubella because it is "un-Islamic".
Dr Abdul Majid Katme, head of the Islamic Medical Association, is telling Muslims that almost all vaccines contain products derived from animal and human tissue, which make them "haram", or unlawful for Muslims to take.
Islam permits only the consumption of halal products, where the animal has had its throat cut and bled to death while God's name is invoked.
Islam also forbids the eating of any pig meat, which Katme says is another reason why vaccines should be avoided, as some contain or have been made using pork-based gelatine.
Comments:
simply outrageous. These doctors' religious "leader" is asking the wrong question. it is not whether the the production and research of vaccines involves animals or pigs or haram or what says you. but rather it is whether the procedures used in their research and development are simply ethical.
whether it is haram or not bears absolutely no relevance on whether we should vaccinate.

Should not this guy - a psychiatrist - be struck off?

I think some meme carriers are expendable. If I had it my way I would make all medicine porcine based.. and that would solve all problems that plague the world.
