People with money and better access to healthcare are more fit than those without this access to healthcare. So you see, America is too smart for most to realize. By creating this split of people with healthcare access, they are effectively carrying out survival of the fittest in favor of the wealthier and (idealistically) smarter citizens.

Canada is dumbing down our species.

Without the facetious tone here, I'd be a pretty strong advocate for eugenics.

The evolution of our brains to a point where we can perform medicine is in itself an example of our fitness. So we must conclude that medicine has allowed the weak to survive and propagate, weakening the genetic pool, ultimately causing the extinction of the human race.

Given that Neanderthals are extinct, there is reason to believe that Josh’s assertion would have prevented the survival of the fittest. High rates of childhood mortality tend to skew the life expectancy statistics downward.

Actually the major contributing factors to increased life expectancy are improved sanitation (clean drinking water and such) and the reduction in many infectious diseases, particularly in childhood.
