Why do intelligent people use alternative medicine?

How about we turn this question around: “Why do unintelligent people use traditional medicine?”

Think again. Remember the jurors in the silicone breast implant cases, or all those homeopathic ED meds. Junk science is more real than real science if presented in a convincing fashion. Snake oil never goes out of fashion.

It begs the question as to whether these folks are in fact intelligent.
