Stephen Ringold works for Clown Care which is “the first residential professional clowning program in a hospital.”
I wonder if his clown friends ever work in the Operating Room . . .

My 2 year old fears clowns like nothing else.
CJD
Hi, Stephen Ringold here! We have worked in pre op and post op. We try to stay away from medical procedures for the most part because we dont want the children to associate us with that. At times we have been asked to provide distraction during painful medical procedures. Most of the time we turn them down. The last thing we need is for a child to think, “Uh oh, here come the clowns, what are they gonna do to me now.”
As far as the comment inre children’s fear of clowns, we are especially trained to deal with this. Bubbles, distance and sensitivity are our main tools, but we have gone so far as to appear without makeup and let the child show us how to put the makeup on.
