A 12-year old survives an "internal decapitation"

December 7, 2006

Some impressive-looking x-rays:

When 12-year-old Chris Stewart crashed his racing car, the force of the smash was so great that his head was wrenched from the top of his neck.

With the ligaments which attach the skull to the spine torn, and his head held in place by just skin and muscle, he was more likely to die than live.

Hilarious article. I shot milk from my nose when I read that the 12 yo was traveling at 50mph. I was like, dude, that’s sooooo pansy! My 8 yo is already going 100mph and has survived at least 20 flaming wrecks. Sure his eyebrows aren’t growing back, but once you reach the pro circuit the chicks don’t care what you look like.
