A painful Pap smear leads to an investigation of a physician

November 8, 2006

Or was this a form of retaliation against the doctor, who fired the patient’s daughter from his practice?

Not licensed, and practicing? It seems to me that you are “mean” to your patients at your own peril if you skirt the rules professionals are supposed to follow. The doctor’s own shadiness is her own fault.

I’ve never had a pap that didn’t pinch, despite the constant reassurance I hear and read given in in PSA’s that the test is “painless”. A little truth in advertising might prepare sensitive patients. The hispanic community has a very high rate of pap avoidance – FWIW. Fear and unfamiliarity with the exam, and a brusqe, shaming manner from a doctor are a combination that would make discomfort less tolerable and lead to an upset patient.
