Zero surprise, with the rampant practice of defensive medicine and now with new technology like multidetector CT heart scan. Having the media publicize these tests also does no favors, as it simply encourages the public to ask for these tests. (via The Health Care Blog)

Kevin, there’s no such thing as defensive medicine. My lawyer told me that, so it must be true.
here’s a better one from an attorney:
“There’s no such thing as a frivolous lawsuit.”
When they say “we’re not doing this for the money, we’re doing it so this never happens to anyone else” (as they sue because their alcoholic family member who they totally abandoned ten years ago dies of an ETOH-related ilness) don’t you just want to rip their balls off?
