I personally know, because my Dad suffered a massive heart attack at the age of 47 while on Vioxx. Before that he had a strong, healthy heart and low blood pressure. Since that time, doctors say his heart is weakened to a fraction of its previous capacity due to the damage the first attack caused, and he is at much greater risk for a second heart attack.

I live in fear everyday that I will get that dreaded phone call. I thank God everyday that he survived.

Shame on you. What is America if not a country where people can feel safe from greedy corporations. People should be able to feel safe in knowing that their health is deemed more important than the bottom line. If Merck doesn’t pay for their mistake, what example will this leave for all other drug companies? Go ahead, a few lives won’t matter? Well, thousands of lives were lost and shaken. If this isn’t enough reason for a multi-billion dollar company to pay, I don’t know what is. Instead of paying their own wealthy lawyers the big bucks to help them cover their ass, Merck should face up to what they’ve done, admit they were wrong, and pay the consequences.
