If you want to bring back every chest pain patient back immediately, and of course every (possible) stroke patient, and every asthmatic, and every _________, then sooner or later there is going to be a line in triage. That line usually starts forming by about 10 am, and by 6 pm the wait is often 6 hours or more.<br/><br/>In this case, the line was 30 patients. Yeah, it would have been nice to bring her back sooner, but it might not have been possible. It isn't as if there is any kiund of treatment lr cure available; most women would be more comfortable in their own homes.<br/><br/>Why they should command resources while myocardial infarctions are left dying or sub-arachnoidal hemorrhages are left for brain dead in the waiting room is beyond me. <br/><br/>I believe Ivan Ilitch once said something (in his "Medical Nemesis") about "rather than expanding Healthcare the population ought to be trained to tolerate more pain".<br/><br/>The way thngs are going now, the population are trained to tolerate absolutely nothing.
