They spent 6 hours trying to get this patient with a cerebral hemorrhage transferred.

This definitely could happen (and probably has happened ) in the US. When I work in the ER of a community hospital I often spend hours trying to “sell” a critically ill patient to one of the big city hospitals. They’re full and they all say “no”.

i guess we should be thankful here in the states for the system that we have in place…no matter how horrible, aggrevating, unfair, and beaucratic it seems…

Have been in a few Japanese hospitals in the past. You really do appreciate what we have here after seeing what they have over there…
