Caffeine abuse on the rise

Caffeine is a drug and can be harmful:

“Young people taking caffeine either to stay awake or for a feeling of euphoria, may actually end up in the emergency department more often than we think,” she said, because young adults taken to a hospital for chest pains and heart palpitations are rarely asked if they’ve taken caffeine supplements.

In the tonys suburbs of Seattle it;’s not uncommon for schol age kids (and I mean little grade schoolers) to consume espresso drinks. And why not? They see mommy down 6 to 12 of these drinks every day.

Then again they also see mom and dad take multiple anti-depressants and more recently, stimulants. No wonder they go on to graduate from Ritalin to anti-depressants themselves. Heck, caffeine is small potatoes to these youngsters.

Let us stop this nonsense before it starts. Any provider whining about caffeine needs to be gagged and dumped into a root cellar before any of the behavior control Nazis jump on the bandwagon.
