A Canadian doctor is fined for rudely firing his patients:
The college heard Rathe, who moved to the physician-strapped Windsor suburb of Belle River in 2001, removed from his patient list 328 people he deemed difficult, dismissing some from his practice with “f— you.”He was physically aggressive with two patients — he pushed one woman — and emotionally abusive to others.

Uh, define “harm”. $5000 doesn’t sound like much of a penalty if the fellow actually resorted to physical abuse and expletives. (Then again, I suppose Dr. U. R. Sodomites, who occasionally posts here, will have a much different perspective.)

Kudos Dr. Rathe! This is the way most of you people should be treated. Can anyone find his address; I propose contributions to make up the fine…I’m willing to donate $1000…anyone else?
The article says the doctor is a recovered opiate addict. Sounds to me like he’s in withdrawal. Sad that a community could be this desparate; then again its Canada.
Yet another reason why I fear Universal Healthcare. I like being able to choose my doc.

I swear to you to God. If any Doc. would ever tell me “Go F*** yourself.” I WOULD NOT BE SUING HIM. I woudl kick his sorry a** for him. God only knows what I would do if he ever pushed (shoved) me or any of my family.

Unfortunately, it’s Canada, so you can’t really sue him anyway. The US is the only country that allows lawsuits for every bullshit misdeed that occurs. There are more lawyers in this country then in the rest of the world combined, though I think the definition of “lawyer” is different outside the US. Luckily, none will be available to answer this blog, they’re all driving to Kentucky to sue Delta for the plane crash today.
