At least women. I usually schedule a routine checkup 2- and 3- months in advance. They do manage to fit you in if you have a real problem, like bleeding or pain, so it works out fine.

Male ObGyns are not as busy though. Maybe because most women prefer female ObGyns as I do.

There are several ObGyns in the medical group I go to, but as anon at 4:08 said, they are busy. Horrible hours, life or death split second decision making, overwhelming liability, emotionally labile patients, and dealing with indigents and youths breeding children they cannot support make me depressed just thinking about it.

I cannot imagine why anyone would want to do OB. My ob/gyn is overly busy and yes, has made mistakes because of this.

As a patient I’m already seeing this problem. These days in University hospitals Physicians are warning Medical students to avoid OB Gyn, for their own mental and physical health, due to the rape of the profession by the malpractice attorneys. This advice, given out every day, cannot be underestimated. I am sure I have dissuaded at least 10 medicl students from entering OB-GYN. My job is to do what is best for them, not for society, which is going to face a great shortage of competent OB-Gyns.

Most Medical students are highly influenced by the academic physicians they run into every day.
