Once in college I was at a party and had been drinking (big surprise). I spent quite a bit of time talking to an attractive girl with a cool foreign accent (German I thought). When I finally drank enough to breach social taboos, I asked about her cool German accent and got the reply "It's not an accent, I'm deaf" (and a damn fine lip reader) Reminds me of a story.
