Some(I said some) of the "nurses" that they are putting out now are butt nurses and think they just amake phone calls to the Docs or let's chat with the new resident. They know nothing about assessment before they call because they want to make the impression that they know something. I will never forget when I asked my menteeRN to help clean up the rooms for the noc. You would have thought she was ask to jump off something. I have met good residents also who want to learn and share with staff, but I have also meet them that are worth the powder to shoot them. Why do we have to eat our young and each other?????? I’ve had nurses help me out, and I’ve had nurses totally F-up simple med orders.

The difference between an RN and an MD is that I can get sued, and you won’t (even though it may be theoretically possible). Why? Because I’m the physician, and you’re the nurse.

And while some of my colleagues may be unfamliar with the concept of ‘health care team’ nurses that think they’re the reason the patients are in the hospital are the real danger. Just as a reminder: They’re there because thats where the doctors work at.

With this post and the post where you have begun to think of yourself as invincible, you are truly scary. You are clueless as to the responsibilities of nurses. Son they are the ones that cover doctors' collective butts. I can not begin to tell you the times I have called MD's regarding incorrect ordering of medications. Nurses are at the bedside when physicians are home or on the golf course. It is a nurse that will know when a patient takes a turn for the worse and notifies the doctor so again they can avoid that awful word "lawsuit". I could rant on but then would you listen to a lowly nurse since you seem to "know everything"? I doubt it. Hopefully your attitude will get you in big enough trouble without you killing some poor patient. Consider something to do with computers. They don't care if you have a lousy attitude. I see so many nurses sucking up and ass kissing the Drs. and not caring what their patients may need. Surprising the number of doc's that fall for that. I guess most of them also don't really care about patients. But the resident in question is definitely not doing himself any favors with his tirade. I am a nurse and know that I will bend over backwards for a physician who treats me with respect and speaks to me as an equal. All my complaints to admin would essentially be "well she has a RN and a heartbeat in this shortage " Since going over to the darkside :) , I have to say lazy docs don't survive very long (unless you are in the VA ).
