Dr. Bennett: If you don’t like him, see another doctor

Concord Monitor:

Bennett is an outspoken, self-made man and a scrapper who’s unafraid of big fights. He made news by donating his $4 million collection of antique cars to benefit his alma mater, Harvard, and then for leading the fight to reduce the millions of dollars in bonuses paid to the managers of Harvard’s $19 billion endowment. He also won a half-million-dollar award from a man who claimed that Bennett had set fire to his own house and antique cars.

In this case, however, pending any further action against him by the state, Bennett should consider the matter settled. The state board’s decision was wrong but well-meaning. There’s no need to further punish taxpayers over it by suing.

Patients who are offended by the rude or offensive comments of a doctor, or the provider of any service for that matter, don’t need government protection. They should simply take their business elsewhere.
