Pica is defined as an appetite for substances not fit for food, such as clay or paper products. Pagophagia is specifically pica for ice, and studies show this to be a specific indicator for iron deficiency anemia. The latter study studied 55 patients with iron-deficiency anemia. Thirty two (58%) had pica, and in 28 (88%) it manifested as pagophagia.

Has this been featured on “House, M.D.” yet? If not, it’s now just a matter of time…
I have been eating ice so much the past months..So it begin to seem abnormal for me the last days i searched though the web and found the relation with iron defiance I was amazed cuz I was told by my doctor that my iron is low but not that low to take medications
!
