Having worked in the medical system in D.C., I am sad to say that the story is both tragic and not surprising. To call the EMS system there inept and poorly led is to be charitable. The priorities of the organizations involved, EMS, and the particular hospital in question deserve the scrutiny they are receiving. Neither are models of the kinds of institutions they are supposed to be.
