UnitedHealth: "They just do a better job of health care denial."

May 15, 2006

More from Health Care Renewal:

Another doctor said the company’s behavior “demonstrates the unrestrained greed and arrogance of an organization that has systematically undermined the very health care system that provides the basis for its wealth.”

UnitedHealth is clearly the worst payer here in the Northeast.

If there were only some way that we physicians as a whole could “opt out” and then we wouldn’t be held hostage to these mercenary health insurance behemoths. It does seem like an uphill battle, like trying to avoid shopping at WalMart…Larger medical groups could probably forgo those companies as UnitedHealth, but the solo- and small group practitioners really have no choice. -sigh- …sign me up for the single payor system…

I think you must chop off the low payors, and it doesn’t matter so much whether you’re in a large group or solo.

We don’t accept United Healthcare and don’t plan to, until they improve reimbursements.

The patients who will come see you even when you won’t accept their insurance are the ones you want to keep. They are the ones that might dump a bad company for a better one when/if they have a chance.

Shame on greedy, sleazy’ United Health care. My husbands Retirement Health Ins. was switched by the company to United Health Care at the beginning of 2005. I had health claims, I paid up front out of pocket 100% and called UHC for their claims address, then sent the claims to the UHC at the beginning of 2006. A month later all of my claims including copies of my canceled checks our social security numbers, a very personal letter about my health were all returned to us in an envelope from a doctors office located in Missouri. We live in West Virginia. The address I mailed to is in Texas. It seems this Doctors claims person found them in a batch of claims, picked them up and took to her home, found our address in the papers and put them back in the mail to us. I spent many days on the web, tracing this. It has been five months now of privacy violation, extreme anxiety, lies, lies, and more lies from UHC. It is shocking how this company, from the corporate office down has treated us. We have many pages of trying to communicate. We have many pages of trying to at least get our claims reimbursed but have not recieved a penny, only lies. Shame on United Health Care.
