To continue our discussion from the original post. :)

As in 1990 protests of the same nature, it resulted to some students burning themselves. I hope this wont happen.

This education bill which was unanimously passed in congress fully supported by opposition BJP with the aim of offering an opportunity for lower caste in reservations intended for the elite. Initially it was a 22.5% reserve, but now they are proposing to increase quota to almost 50%. Hence, the strike.

Accdg. to the email, the PM hasn’t granted them audience yet. They dont trust Arjun Singh, so they need to talk to the PM. Challenging his offer of talks before this becomes a bill.

In the meantime, hospitals see striking doctors and out on the roads, more med students protest. So, it’s waiting time, until PM issues a statement.
