The FDA approves an ADHD patch. Now it's come down to a classroom of kids wearing patches of methylphenidate:
The patch called Daytrana, designed to be worn for 9 hours, contains methylphenidate, which has been shown to help children with ADHD. It is the same stimulant that is in Ritalin.

I can see some ADHD kids taking off the patches and letting other non-ADHD kids use the patches.
Next on the horizon: Ambien patches, Paxil, Effexor or Zoloft patches, Imitrex or Maxalt patches, Zyrtec or Allegra or Singulair patches and for Rush Limbaugh, Oxycontin Patches. Seriously, I'd like to see Phenergan patches for children and for pregnant women. The Phenergan gel is available but has to be compounded and some don't know how to give 0.1 ml of the gel.
  2. The patches may avoid the up & down of meds like Adderral & Ritalin. Every been in a classroom with an ADHD kid? Superball shot out of a cannon in a concrete room. Often gifted but challenging.
  3. Coming next: Daycara patches for all those ornery little pre-schoolers farmed out to the local KinderCare.

This is awesome news, Kevin...now it will be easier to medicate the kids of the litigious sodomites...we can get them early before they turn into adult litigants! Can't wait to get one of these little animals addicted to adderall...what's the dose?
