“Doctors say stagnant or declining reimbursements from health insurers prevents them from just charging more to cover costly insurance.”
So we think we’ll cap our insurers’ exposure. Good call.
a single insurer has 70% of the health insurance market in Hawaii. There is no negotiation regarding fees. That fact, combined with a rising overhead, accelerated by rising malpractice, plus an out of reach housing market, precludes recruitment to, and inhibits retention of physicians in Hawaii. Physicians have two choices; either see more patients and/or do more procedures per unit of time, or move to the mainland U.S.
Or how about just accepting what it being offered and forget about being a money machine. I doubt ANY Doc in Hawaii is not living in the best part of town and not paying his/her bills. Just not making the big bucks to brag about to the former med-school class mates. To most people this is just “life” but to most Docs it’s a crisis.Too bad. This is one reason why the system is a disaster.
“To most people this is just “life””
Physicians are not satisfied with being a loser like you…they want to do something useful with their lives…comparing your life to theirs is comparing apples to oranges.
Most of us docs actually are trying to make as much money as possible in as little time to get out of this sorry profession. I’m depressed every time my mutual funds go down cause it means a few more weeks of work at the end before I can retire.
“TO MOST PEOPLE IT’S JUST “LIFE” RESPONSE.
YOUR COMMENTS CALLING ME A LOSER….JUST PROVE MY POINT. SINCE WHEN IS DOING SOMETHING IMPORTANT WITH ONES LIFE DEFINED AS BEING A MONEY MACHINE? YOUR COMMENTS JUST GO TO SHOW WHAT AN ARROGANT ASSHOLE YOUR ARE. I BET YOU ARE A DOC. YOU DON’T KNOW A THING ABOUT MY LIFE. I SURE WOULD NOT WANT TO COMPARE IT WITH YOURS. THANKS FOR SAYING WHAT I DIDN’T. PEOPLE LIKE YOU DON’T NEED ME TO INJURE YOUR REPUTATION. YOU ARE A PRO AT IT YOURSELF. IF ASSHOLES COULD FLY YOU WOULD BE A JET!
