Always inform patients of every test result:

A doctor has admitted she never told patient Pamela Moore her cancer test was negative as she did not appreciate she was worried about it.

Mrs Moore, of Mount Drive, Stansted, died at Princess Alexandra Hospital after suffering from septicaemia and superbug clostridium difficile.

Nearly two months before her death on July 25 last year, Mrs Moore was told she could have cancer and a biopsy was taken from a lump on her hip. Despite being told she would know the outcome within two weeks, Mrs Moore died still unaware of the test results.

As the Observer revealed last week, her family believe this uncertainty and an earlier misdiagnosis of a fractured hip left her susceptible to the diseases that finally killed her.
