You can't become a vet just because you hate humans; this is insufficient. You have to show that you care about animals. Besides, you will still have to deal with those pesky human caretakers.

And believe me, pets can be difficult patients. One of my rabbits had a panic attack (complete with screaming) at the vets, to the point where he could barely examine her, so he finally told me to take her home. And just try getting a cat or rabbit to take all of their medicine.

Many of the pharmaceuticals, medical imaging, diagnostic procedures and so forth are quite comparable to human medicine.
Actually imaging can be more expensive because you cannot just say to a cat to stay still so it almost always involves general anesthesia. Also vets buy the equipment, but it doesn't get utilized nearly as much so they need to charge more.
Same with teeth cleanings: "hi kitty, would you open your mouth and say 'A'".

Many times I have wished I had gone into veterinary medicine...it seems the animals are more deserving of care than these litigious a-holes...
And the more I read posts like this one from humans the more I like my cats.

You know vets don't make nearly as much as doctors. And they probably are occasionally scratched or bitten. You've have to get used to all of your patients hating you too.

Here is a suggestion for you since you obviously hate your profession. Have you ever thought of Computer Science? In some sub-fields like database administration you can make nearly as much as a doctor. And you don't need to deal with patients.

Veterinary insurance is available but the coverage tends to be limited, so the majority of people don't have it. You have to wonder if this fact has helped keep veterinary costs somewhat more affordable; vets are not going to see much business if most of their clients can't afford the prices.

Many of the pharmaceuticals, medical imaging, diagnostic procedures and so forth are quite comparable to human medicine.

Also, the cost is probably considerably less. Dog hip replacement is $2400 in the US (just found it on a web site). It is probably more expensive for humans.

Not a valid comparison. There is not the same demand for veterinary joint replacements.

For every person who buys a hip replacement for their dog, there are untold others who decide to just have the dog euth'ed. That probably wouldn't be an acceptable strategy for human patients.
