Restating the obvious: Supermarkets have flu shots, doctors’ offices don’t. “Meanwhile, large drugstores and supermarket chains in many cities are offering vaccinations while doctors’ offices go without supplies. ‘People who place large orders for vaccine tend to get preferential treatment from distributors.’”

Why would a physician be upset about this? It would seem to be a very poor, and unprofitable, use of your time to have to administer these by the dozens every day.

Believe me CJD, it is profitable. In my clinic it is a cash transaction. I don’t have to see the patients. The net profit can be $12 per shot and our clinic can give 500 shots a day while I’m seeing other patients.

Maybe if the doctors made it easier to get a flu shot, people would go there. Calling for an appointment and then getting over charged for the privilege of getting stabbed by a nurse (“don’t even have to see the patient!”) — and if you NET $12 per shot, when that’s about what I pay total for a flu shot down at the mall — why go to the doctor’s office?? No reason! Sorry docs, you lose.

You won’t find a $12 flu shot at any mall in the USA.If you do, please post their location or telephone number in this blog. You won’t be able to fool anybody here. It’s either free at your place of employment(if available) or it’s $25 at the mall. I have an urgent care clinic, a walk-in type of clinic, and I charge the going rate of $25.
Please let the public know where they can get that $12 flu shot.
Otherwise, you’re just another idiot in this blog.

Gotcha. I don’t blame you then. Although, if people aren’t even going to see you, why should it be an outrage that the supermarket has more than the clinic? After all, it’s a lot easier to go to a supermarket than a doctor’s office and you can probably get in and out faster. Or do you guys market that you are giving them and set a nurse up to simply do that all day long?

I knew you were just envious.
So where is this $12 flu shot?

Yes and I have hired RN’s to administer them and I have checked their credentials and that strict cleanliness (aseptic technique) is followed. Two years ago we were able to give 1200 shots in 12 hours.

I don’t know. I wasn’t the one who made the claim.
