When a key artery is blocked or clogged, they develop ischemia and a fatal arrythmia (typically ventricular fibrillation) resulting in a death that is so rapid that there is not sufficient time for the cardiac muscle to infarct. I have a friend whose husband works for Merck, he may lose his job because of this. One bit of testimony I can certainly believe, because I've seen it: Medical schools now use the contrived Silicone Breast implant trials to teach 4th year medical students how to properly read medical research and how it can be twisted by biased observers to make untrained observers believe ANYTHING. Sound Familiar? Just like you probably believed the Jury in the Silicone Breast Implant trials, and all the cerebral palsy trials. I did see interviews with Mr. Lanier and Merck's chief defense attorney after the verdict. One thing: Whoever hired lawyers for Merck is an idiot. Mr. Lanier is a very attractive man and a colorful speaker. The Merck attorney is balding, short and was quivering when interviewed. The hell with the facts: If I had known Merck had hired an ugly Lawyer, I would havd shorted their stock weeks ago! You can bash this all you want but we all know this was a MAJOR factor in this case. I have no position and no stake in the outcome.
