"I'm writing on behalf of the more than 60 people who took my advice and posted pictures of their illnesses and injuries . . . in the hopes that Dr. Frist might be able to diagnose us over the Internet."
Dr. Frist is coming under fire for his internet diagnosis from the LA Times and Chris Rangel.

Comments:
Kinda reminds me of those televangelists who want you to place your afflicted part against the TV screen so it can be healed . . .
Didn't kevinmd just have a posting about how it is possible to diagnose over the telephone? He (as well as the physician commenters) seemed to think it was OK. So what's the big deal with Frist?
The guy made a mistake, but some of these rants against him (like on the page Kevin linked to) are a little out of place, don't you think?
From what I can tell the man was a good thoracic surgeon, generally well respected at Vanderbilt with great training creditials. The guy got caught trying to use his former profession to further his political party's agenda...but calls for him to lose or resign his license are a little out of place, aren't they?

The guy didn't make a mistake. He knew exactly what he was doing - pandering to a voting bloc.
Calls for him to lose (I don't know about the license) are certainly appropriate. He's a national politician - if he can't take the heat, he should get out of the kitchen.
He, like every other politician on that level, has undoubtedly been the beneficiary of some inappropriate and unfair attacks on his opponents. Why should he be insulated from LEGITIMATE attacks now?

Hi,
I am composing a letter to our school districts NEW insurance company to support the argument of them granting a contract to the psychiatrist my daughter and several other folks here have been seeing for over five years. The new insurance company of course has one child adolescent psychiatrist they are already contracted with.
I haven't had much success finding research papers addressing continuity of care and Standards of practice, so , I am appealing to those in the field who can site from personal professional and or academic experience, information in support of this argument.
I thank you in advance for any information you can share.
Namaste,
mb
