Amphetamines are widely used in sports as a "performance enhancer", and can clearly cause stroke. Anyway, that's my two cents.

I don’t want to say anything too inflamatory, and as a die-hard patriots fan it’s hard to do, but I would be more concerned about amphetamines than cocaine. I'll try to catch the show.

I posted on Bruschi today.

Carotid trauma +/- dissection is surely possible and I have seen a few of these, but I do believe they would have already put him on anticoag's and I don't see how they could release him so quickly...but then again, it IS MGH...

I want to know what the diffusion-weighted MRI showed. I am always suspicious of these cases with major athletes ("Giambiiasis");

If there was "broken blood vessel in the head" (ugh) it would HAVE to be a tiny malformation that bled for him to recuperate so fast. That should be clearly evident on an MRI with susceptibility sequences, which they suerely would have done (detects blood products).

I've seen a LOT of those, mostly in retrospect.

CodeBlueBlogMD

I’m in Boston tonight.
