X-ray snafu cost my life

Not communicating an X-ray result leads to a lawsuit. Never assume that “no news is good news”. Always followup on lab and X-ray tests.

Not sure where the error is. Both links work when I click on them.

Misinterpretation on my part – I thought you were referring to the blog. My mistake.

May I add that you should actually get copies of the reports. About 1.5 years ago I developed R shoulder atrophy which I attributed to my hx of whiplash from an MVA and prior disc dz. Saw a PM&R doc and had repeat C-spine MRI. Had the report paraphrased over the phone and told minor degenerative changes, but nothing to explain the shoulder atrophy. Diagnosis was possible idiopathic axillary nerve damage. Now I have R hand intrinsic muscle atrophy and RLE weakness and am suspicious that I may have cervical myelopathy. Recently obtained a copy of the prior c-spine MRI report and it stated that there was “effacement of the CSF” at the C6 level – so there was more than just minor degenerative changes. Had I seen the actual report I would have sought follow up sooner. Am now awaiting repeat imaging while hoping that I don’t need c-spine surgery.
