    Let’s have a discussion:
    Resolved: I, as a physician who cares for breast cancer patients (surgeon, oncologist, mammographer, radiation therapist, etc.) would have nothing to do with caring for Sen. Edwards’ spouse.

    That at least is my position. This is based not on a revenge motive, not fear, but on risk management principles. I would not provide elective care to any members of Sen. Edwards’ family, nor any other malpractice lawyers’ family, nor to the family of any “civilian” who had sued a physician in the past.

    Some people believe that the lawsuit industry is the proper place to get “Justice” after a medical misadventure. Obviously, people in the above categories are in that group. My risk management plan requires that I have as little to do with these people as possible. Hence, no elective care.
