I speak as an ex-smoker, a Singaporean, and someone whose mother once ran the national anti-smoking campaign.<br /><br />I think what non-smokers don't understand is once you're a smoker, nothing except your own decision will persuade you to stop. Can you imagine how many folks would buy a can of soup that had a written warning across it stating it could cause cancer or death. Soup companies would quickly go out of business. Yet packs of cigarettes have had that same warning for years and people still buy them. I don’t see this as anything that has a chance of working.
