One thing that pediatricians typically ignore is this: if the MOTHER thinks something is amiss, you need to listen to the MOTHER. If the mother thinks something is amiss, then something IS amiss - unless she is on crack.

She brought the kid to the ER for a reason. Doctors LOVE to ignore mothers. What do we know? Uh, we know the kid.

The mother might want an antibiotic for a cold, the mother might be in the ER for something that's not an emergency, and you're right to be irked about these things. But the issue isn't commonly that she's seeing things that aren't there.

But if she says something is wrong with her kid and she can't put her finger on it, then you should order a CT scan. Especially if there is concern about abuse.

If the CT scan is normal, then you send her to a developmental pediatrician. You don't send her home.

I believe this practice of listening to mothers would save doctors a lot of grief.

Juries reach the most amazing conclusions. How that CT scan was supposed to magically determine that the babysitter would later seriously abuse the child is beyond me.

FUCK people that try to sue doctors why cant you see that they make a lifestyle out of trying to save peoples lives you have to look at the situation from a 3rd persons point of view, sure you can be the crying victom but that gets you no where. Just remember if you dont want their help then dont go see them in the first place.
